Watch videos of Greta in action on youtube!Video 1 Video 2 Video 3 Have you ever dreamed of a White Christmas?  Have you ever dreamed of a White German Shepherd????  If so, Greta would be your dream come true <3 Greta is an approx two-year-old German Shepherd mix that was found as stray with another old dog.  Animal Control Officers said she was protecting the old dog who was sick. Greta was in the shelter for over two months until she caught the eye of Golden State German Shepherd Rescue.  We went in to pick up another pup and decided to evaluate this beautiful girl and she did great on her evaluation.  Greta prefers a slow introduction with most dogs but as soon as she realizes they are friendly, she can't wait to start playing w/them!  She even temp tested well with kitties so we think with proper introduction and supervision, she will be able to co-habitate with felines.   Greta LOVES going for rides and is a great traveler.  Every time her foster mom opens the car door, Greta is ready to go!  And she loves to go on long walks. During her stay at the shelter, they would take her out on her doggy day and she would walk over two miles!!!      Greta is extremely comfortable with people of all ages. She is particulary fond of young kids as she watched her foster mom's young son and nephew very attentively while they were on the trampoline. Greta never left their side nor took her eye off them.   We don't know why Greta wasn't snatched up while she was in the shelter.  She is a lovely girl with extraordinary charm and personality.   More

Luna

Female 8.4 years

Luna was found "as a stray" on August 15, with a note in her collar "Luna, six years old, housebroken" and although she was microchipped, when the Manteca shelter called the number, it went back to her original owner who said they had given her away years ago but didn't know where that person was. Sadly, those people didn't want her back and the shelter believes her current owner came back to dump Luna in Manteca. We were notified about Luna and thankfully we had a new foster willing to foster her. Luna passed her evaluation with flying colors and we pulled her into rescue. Luna is now enjoying her new, quiet life in Galt and her foster dad, Dave, reports "she's been investigating all the new sounds in the backyard and is on 24/7 watch for squirrels".  She also enjoys chasing a tennis ball and will bring it back but she prefers a short game. After 5-6 throws, she will lay down for a much deserve break (but keeps an eye out for any pesky squirrels).   More

Maggie

Maggie is an energetic and affectionate little darling. Golden State German Shepherd Rescue pulled her from the Kerman Animal Shelter. Found as a stray, her owners never came to look for her. So at five months of age, Maggie found herself on the adoption waiting list.She has been in foster care now over a year and is doing very well. She has had some obedience training and socialization in public places.  She is housebroken and crate-trained, and knows how to sit, stay, down and walk on a leash. She would also be a good walking or jogging companion.She has some anxiety around meeting new dogs, but gets along great with her one-year-old foster brother Buddy. They play and wrestle together and it is fun to watch. She is alert and alarm-barks when she hears unusual noises outside (good girl!) She is quick and agile, and will absolutely chase a cat when it runs. So she should therefore NOT be in a home with kitties. Maggie may benefit greatly living with another dog, an older but playful dog to show her the ropes.  Maggie would also do best with a patient, committed owner who will continue to work with her.
