Funds
As an all-volunteer organization we rely entirely on donations in order to continue our mission of rescuing and successfully rehoming German Shepherd Dogs in need. We have several ways you can donate funds.
Jill Barclay Alchorn Spay/Neuter Fund
On May 16, 2023, the world lost a truly special person, Jill Barclay Alchorn. The rescue world lost a friend to many, a savior to thousands of animals in need, and an amazing mentor, advocate, role model and human being. As a Registered Vet Technician (RVT) in the Stockton shelter, Jill worked tirelessly to save the lives of countless animals, especially German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs).
Jill’s wish was for Golden State German Shepherd Rescue (GSGSR) to continue our mission saving Shepherds in shelters. As an RVT, she believed “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” by stopping the problem at its source…. irresponsible breeding.
To honor the memory of our dear friend, we have established the Jill Barclay Alchorn Spay/Neuter Fund. Your donations will be used to help provide financial assistance for spays and neuters throughout the Northern Central Valley communities Jill loved.
If you would like to give to this special fund, donate online or mail a check payable to GSGSR at P.O. Box 2956 Alameda, CA 94501. Please clearly mark on your check that your gift is for the JBA Spay/Neuter Fund.
Sponsor a Dog
All rescue dogs in our program are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, transported, fed and housed. Since German Shepherd Dogs often have additional medical issues such as hip dysplasia or irritable bowel syndrome, we often accrue other high medical costs for x-rays and diagnostic tests. And there are our Special Needs medical issues dogs that need more extensive treatment such as those needing amputations or joint replacement prior to adoption.
Sponsorship allows you to pay for the care and cost of one of our dogs while it waits for it new forever home. All donated funds will go to cover that dog's expenses. If a certain dog's expenses are completely covered we will let you know so you can use the donation towards another dog. You can sponsor part or all of a dog's expenses, and a monetary contribution can be made to directly pay for the costs of one of our specific rescue German Shepherds on a monthly basis while it is in our program.
