My name is Heather and I am the grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren whom one of them has level 3 autism and is non verbal. My daughter was doing a friend some help while she made a move to the East Coast by fostering her dog. The problem is that Cooper needs a forever home and fast. My grandson cannot be around Cooper.
Please find her copied details about Cooper…
Hi everyone, I’m fostering a beautiful 7-year-old German Shepherd named Copper. Unfortunately, her original owner is unable to take her back, and I can’t keep her long-term. Copper is a wonderful dog, and I’m committed to finding her the perfect home.
About Copper:
• Temperament: She’s well-behaved, protective, and loving. She’s good with small dogs and would thrive in a home with a single woman, a couple, or a family with older children.
• Training: She’s housebroken and knows commands like sit, lay down, and stay.
• Activities: Copper loves car rides, swimming in pools or open rivers or lakes, playing fetch, and spending time in nature. She’s NOT a jumper—I have a 4’ short gate and fence line around our front yard , and she has not once ever tried to jump it.
• Companionship: She’s okay being left home alone without being destructive. She enjoys cuddles but also values her own space. She’ll likely sleep on the floor or at the foot of your bed if allowed.
What Copper Comes With:
• Standard collar, slip collar, and leash for walks.
• Several favorite toys, lifted food and water bowls, and any flea prevention meds I have left for her.
Why I Can’t Keep Her:
I have a 6-year-old child with autism who gets bursts of energy (“zoomies”) at night and chases Copper around. Copper avoids any confrontation and becomes fearful. I worry that one of them might unintentionally hurt the other. While Copper loves my 8-year-old and 4-year-old, I believe a home with older or no children would be best to ensure her comfort and safety. To be honest; I’m worried about my grandson just being who is with special needs and his (and Copper's) safety are paramount.
There’s no re-homing fee, but I’m looking for a responsible, loving family who will give Copper the care and attention she deserves. Copper is an amazing dog, and I want to find a home where she’ll be as loved as she is here.
