Rocky is a lover at heart. His favorite thing to do is be with his people- he loves being pet and having his head in your lap. He will eagerly run up to new people, sit, look up, and wait for a pet. He has an extremely sweet temperament– take him anywhere, and you'll find the entire staff gathered around him. He's also a fast learner. He already knows commands for sit, shake, and is working on down.
Rocky is getting better in his crate every day. He's comfortable and quiet in his crate even with his foster parents out of sight for long periods of time. He is less comfortable when his foster family is out of the house, but he is making progress each day.
Rocky walks well on leash. He heels well, especially when walking next to his foster brother (another GSG rescue). He is curious about other dogs, but does not pull or get overly excited.
Rocky has met a few other dogs, and he behaves well with them. He does not attempt to make other dogs play with him who are uninterested, although he still needs to work on containing his excitement around new guests.
Rocky needs work with cats. He's gone nose to nose with the cat, been off leash with the cat, and responds to cues from the cat to back off. He just wants to play from what his foster moms can tell, but he has not yet learned to not chase the cat sometimes when he wants to play. With more training, his foster moms believe he can work well in a home with a cat, but he will need close supervision to start.
Rocky is a sweetheart who has the basics down, and needs an owner who has the time to keep building on that foundation and is looking for a lovey dovey pup.
