Roxie Hart is a sweet older gal looking for a soft place to land. She was surrendered to the shelter when the owners didn't have any more time for her. She was undoubtedly nervous, but was a solid girl around new people. Roxie can be barky on leash when she sees a new dog, but once she sniffs them, they are all good. She's just wants to make her shepherd presence known.
Roxie came to us overweight and with a typical senior shepherd gait. Roxie is looking for a home where she will not be overfed, get lots of walks and playtime and cuddle time. She does like to chase the ball, and will bring it back. Once she sheds the unwanted holiday weight, she will get better at playing with the ball. She does have an enlarged skin tag/mass on her thorax and we are having that checked out.
She is currently being fostered with 4 other dogs (large and small), and is being a respectful house guest. We don't think she has ever lived with other dogs before, so her foster is working on her resource guarding with food and bones. It's all new to her.
She will make a lovely companion for someone looking for a gentle dog, and one who has GSD experience, as she is larger and needs a bit of leash work. Someone who will look after her during her golden years. Could that person be you?
