Male 9.6 months Level 3.0

Ready for Adoption Added April 25, 2020

If you are looking for a handsome, energetic, playful boy and are willing to put time, training and your own energy into this guy then we have a match for you.  Meet Hondo!!  He is approximately 10 months old.  His life prior to coming to rescue was being tied out in a yard, with little interaction from his caretaker.  His foster home has started his basic training of sit, down, how to play, how to meet new dogs and how to walk on a leash.  He has done really well meeting new dogs since being brought into his foster home.  He did have to figure out where his place was in the pack.  Hondo would do well with another dog in the home as long as it is the right dog.  A female his size or larger would be best.  Hondo is still learning to be respectful while playing so little or really old dogs would not be a good match for him.

Hondo requires a forever home that has experience with German Shepherds, he is not for the first time family.  He does like to learn, is food and toy motivated (toy motivation has just started).  He is crate trained and will bark when he needs to go out.   Hondo is now learning to fetch the ball and bring it back.  Not quite a 100% in bringing the ball right back to the thrower but he is getting close and is willing to give it up.

Attached is a video of him when he arrived at the foster home (he's the one on the red leash) meeting his two new foster sisters.  The other video is him playing ball, hence the harness and long leash.  The harness is not used for walking only for training purposes.  Hondo is eager to please and once trust is established he will give you great eye focus.  He does have great energy and will require daily exercise, playtime and training.  Again, if you are looking for the perfect dog to spend time with and to work with Hondo is your boy.
