Joey is a young, active, playful shepherd who loves his walks and just hanging out with his people. He is a very striking boy with a gorgeous plush dark coat and deep dark eyes that draw plenty of attention on walks. He especially loves a good game of fetch and playing with his toys.
Joey has health issues so he’s on daily anti-inflammatories and pain meds to help manage his panostetitis and arthritis. His foster parents report he’s a happy pup, learning how to be a member of the family. He plays appropriately with his older Collie foster brother. At the recent Adoption Day, our volunteers were impressed, especially noting how much Joey has grown, how active he is, and how he loves meeting everyone.
Joey is a sweet boy. He deserves a family that will give him plenty of love and care, a home where he can get daily activity such as long walks, possibly swim therapy, or any regular activities that will keep his muscles strong.
He has an active prey drive so a home without cats or small dogs will be best for this guy. He did not have much exposure to dogs in his prior home, but he seems to do fine with larger dogs. He is getting better being around smaller dogs, so we do think he is small dog workable. However, he is a big and mouthy puppy, so smaller children in his new home aren’t a good idea.
Joey has great focus so his forever family will want to continue training this responsive boy. He already walks well on leash, is crate trained, rides very nicely in the car, sleeps through the night, and is housebroken. He’s going to be just the ticket to complete some lucky family!
