Siegfried ( aka Siggy ) is an eight month old and very handsome GSD. His favorite things include eating and playing, he especially loves to chase ( and pounce on ) his 2 year old GSD sister. He is house broken, sleeps 9 hours at night and is crate trained. LIke many puppies, he does dig and likes to chew on appropriate toys and inappropriate shoes. He likes to play with other dogs and meets all dogs nicely and could either be an only dog or live with a compatible dog. He does have prey drive, however he has seemed to want to avoid cats. So experienced owners who know how to keep the dog's attention off the cat may be successful with him in their home.

Siggy loves to run and play and is very mobile. He does not know he is missing a leg ( amputation due to a previously unhealed broken leg with additional carpal damage ). This does not limit his abilities in the least and when he is running you can hardly even tell he has only 3 legs. He has some typical puppy behaviors, including jumping up, so someone with some experience might be best. The vet does not expect any additional surgeries but recommends minimal stairs, or strenuous/concussive activities such as hiking, jogging on until Siggy is 18-24 months old. He has a rabbit type motion when walking which can bring out aggressive behaviors in dogs with prey drive ( no dog parks for Siggy ).

His foster mom says "He is a joy, always happy, loves to meet people and new dogs, has a classic GSD temperament: confident, trusting, smart, will work for food or praise, wants to please, accepts correction and leadership but ready to fill the void." As with all our GSD puppies, Siggy will need a home that is experienced with raising a puppy and who has time to spend exercising him and training him to be a well mannered adult dog.
