Male 6.6 years Level 4.0

Adopted Added July 28, 2018

Our sweet Baylen was brought to the Stanislaus Animal Shelter by his owners after they found him with a major eye injury, unfortunately, they were unable to cover the cost of his surgery so Stanislaus called us.  We picked him up within a couple of hours and brought him to his foster home.  He had surgery a few days later to remove the eye.  This injury has not slowed this pup down too much.

Baylen is a happy pup that wants to be with people.  He curls up on any clothes that are left on the floor to feel secure.  He has started to do a little chewing on shoes and slippers whether you are wearing them or not.  He has a hearty appetite and is learning sit.  It will take some time for him to heal from his surgery and get use to the world around him with only one eye, but he is resilient and is carrying on.  He really does not like the cone, but is getting use to it.  He is working on potty training and crate training.  He will sometimes throw a little fit when put in the crate, but with a good treat or snack he calms down.

He will be ready to go soon and anyone interested in adopting him should look into puppy training classes, read up on having a one eyed dog and walk him on the right side.

We would also like to THANK EVERYONE that supported him through this ordeal with your thoughts, words, prayers and donations!!

We carefully choose homes for our puppies as they require owners who are home enough, and have the time, energy and patience to guide the puppy through it's chewing, digging, and mouthing stages (which can last through adolescence), and who will provide regular exercise, socialization and training so the puppy will grow up to be a mannerly adult dog. All puppies bark incessantly, dig, and destroy things if they are left alone for long periods of time, and thus, need to be with owners who do not leave them alone for long hours.
