Cookie is about 2 years old, and is a short coat, black and tan female German Shepherd who weighs about 65 pounds.  She was found tied to a post in front of a high kill Central Valley shelter where she had 4 puppies a few days later. Thanks to our Facebook fans we were able to take her into our program. We always have very high costs for litters of puppies because we have to pay for food, board for at least two months, all of the nutrition and health needs, wormings and vaccinations for the entire family and then spay/neuter costs for all, too. Plus there is greatly increased health risks bringing puppies into the program from a shelter as they have a much higher potential of being exposed to diseases without the appropriate immunities built up. If it were not for our Facebook fans we could not have brought this family in, we have so many dogs in our program now.

Cookie has been a wonderful mom and has been loving to all people even during this stressful time. She raised her female puppy Chip and is looking forward to getting adopted. Cookie is an energetic, fun loving girl who is very puppyish and playful. She loves people and has been good with the various dogs she has met. She likes to chase squirrels but is easy to recall so doesn't seem to have a high prey drive; she just likes to play and is stimulated by whatever is around to play with. Cookie is quiet, does not bark and is in very good health. She is food motivated and loves to learn new things using food rewards. Cookie is generally on the submissive side, but is not timid.  She did not get any training from her previous owners and being so happy, playful and energetic, she needs consistent structure so she can settle appropriately in a new routine. Being puppyish, she needs supervision in the house, as she has not quite figured out what are dog toys and what are not!  She would love to be in an active family with a compatible dog friend or two, who will provide consistent structure to allow her to navigate her adolescent years and grow into a fun loving, and mannerly, adult dog.
