Amber
Female 12.7 years

Amber is a cute female German Shepherd puppy who we think is mixed with Golden Retriever. She is about 9 months old and about 40 pounds. She is a little undersocialized due to her previous life and can be unsure sometimes on walks or occasionally meeting new people. However, she is generally sweet. Amber is a typical puppy and needs to continue the basic training she is starting in her foster home. Like all puppies she needs to continue to be exposed to new environments, people and other animals. She is going through a chewing phase and so needs plenty of her own toys. Amber loves to play with dogs and has been good with the foster cat when it doesn't run. She would do best with another compatible dog. With proper supervision, she may be trainable with cats if they don't run. Amber is crate trained but will get vocal if anyone is having fun and she is locked up. She sleeps through the night. Being a puppy, Amber does jump up on people occasionally so wold be best in a home with dog savvy kids 12 years or older.
Puppies need a lot of guidance and attention during their formative years until they are about 3 years old or they will develop bad habits like barking, digging and destroying things. During this period of time, the puppy will go through most, if not all, of the same physical, mental and emotional stages of development that a human child goes through from birth to 18 years. This includes teething, potty-training even in bad weather, temper tantrums, disobedience, independence, and defiance, to name just a few. Puppy Owners must remember, even at the most frustrating of times, if they want "The Perfect GSD," it’s up to the owner to show the puppy, over and over what to do in every situation. Puppy owners also need to understand and appreciate that Perfect GSDs are not born, they are raised, and this isn't a job for the faint of heart or for those who lack the time, patience or energy to ge the job done right.
