Pancho is a lovely, playful dog who bonds well with his family after a short time.  He is house-trained, crate-trained, and loves to go on car rides.  Pancho is a smart boy and knows many things including sit, down, and shake.  He lives with another German Shepherd and two small dogs gets along with both although would be jealous of sharing attention if allowed.  He is submissive to authority and lays down immediately if spoken to firmly.  He does have strong prey drive against cats and birds and would love to chase them.

Pancho gets along with the 5 year old and 12 year old children in his foster home, and even lays down to play more gently with the little one.  Pancho doesn't jump up on people and he takes treats gently.  He enjoys going on 3-5 miles walks over hilly terrain walks every day.  He also enjoys playing ball by himself, or running along as the other dogs get the ball.    He has been known to keep his family from danger by placing himself in front of them when he senses something challenging is going on.  Pancho's only need is a little help getting into high vehicles and some anti-inflammatory pills on cold days, due to an old, naturally healed fracture in his pelvis, from some trauma in his past that caused some tendon shortening but hasn't seemed to slow him down otherwise.  It left a slight skip in his back legs that is more noticeable when he is going fast.  He can jump a 2-3 foot obstacle jump which he enjoys doing for treats.  If you are looking for a special German Shepherd, Pancho may be your dog.
