Granite is a five months old 1/2 American, 1/2 German lines, male German Shepherd.  He is very smart and takes everything he sees in stride.   Granite is overall a calm pup, easy, and not pushy.  He is confidant, outgoing, and wants to be part of a family.  Granite is much more chewing orientated than some puppies and will often latch on to whatever is in view, furniture, carpet, trees, and a particular favorite, lounge chairs.  And he is fast.  So his new owners have to have the know how to redirect his behavior to something more desireable, and they have to be able to keep up with him!  His one other requirement is that he needs to go to a home that will continue to take him out and about to socialize with strangers every week for awhile.  Because he was dumped in the shelter at a tender age, and because he also very easily has his feelings hurt (so no strong training methods for him, he needs positive reinforcement only), he tended to be a bit cautious of new people.  However, he has responded beautifully to a training program of having strangers giving him food where he can be the one who approaches them to get the food.  His new adopters need to be able to continue this program.  Experienced owners who have a physically active lifestyle  would be great for Granite.  Quiet older kids would be ok.  A friendly confident dog would also be helpful, but is not required.

Dogs with this breeding require regular daily mental and physical stimulation that are age appropriate.   Like alll puppies, Granite needs lots of time and attention so he will be educated how to turn out to be a wonderful adult dog.   Please remember that all puppies chew, dig, cry at times, and need lots of your time until they are young adults (about 2 years old).  All puppies, if left alone during the day, will become destructive and bark a lot, so do not choose a puppy if you are gone for long hours.
