On May 16, 2023, the world lost a truly special person, Jill Barclay Alchorn. The rescue world lost a friend to many, a savior to thousands of animals in need, and an amazing mentor, advocate, role model and human being. As a Registered Vet Technician (RVT) in the Stockton shelter, Jill worked tirelessly to save the lives of countless animals, especially German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs).

Jill’s wish was for Golden State German Shepherd Rescue (GSGSR) to continue our mission saving Shepherds in shelters. As an RVT, she believed “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” by stopping the problem at its source… irresponsible breeding.

To honor the memory of our dear friend, we have established the Jill Barclay Alchorn Spay and Neuter Fund. Your donations will be used to help provide financial assistance for spays and neuters throughout the Northern Central Valley communities Jill loved.
