Volunteer of the Month
Here are the Golden State German Shepherd Rescue Volunteers of the Month! We appreciate all of them for their tireless work.
Volunteer of the Month for June 2010 is Dez Murray!
Dez Murray has been responsible for saving hundreds of German Shepherd Dogs, some just minutes from being put to sleep, over the many years she has been involved with various German Shepherd Rescue groups. Not only has she devoted herself to the daunting task of evaluating German Shepherd Dogs in shelters, where there are always too many dogs to take them all, she has also fostered them in their first days in rescue, so is often the first to find their issues, she baths them, gets them vetted, gets them to the right foster hom, gets them to Adoption Days, and works with potential adopters to match them up with their new dog. And, that is only a few of the dog related activities she has done for rescue. She has also been involved in developing newsletters, helping with fundraising activities, developing educational activities, and working constantly to get the word out about German Shepherd Rescue. All the dogs she has saved, including the two seniors she pulled from the Martinez Shelter, shown in photo, are forever thankful for all she has done. So are the volunteers of GSGSR, we could not save all the dogs we have without her tireless efforts.
Dez says, "Too many good dogs, not enough hours in the day"!
Volunteer of the Month for May 2010 is Michelle Palmer!
Michelle Palmer has participated in just about every aspect of German Shepherd Rescue over the years she has been involved in rescue. She has already volunteered as a foster home, adoption day volunteer, designer and producer of all our printed materials, merchandise committee member, Gala fundraiser coordinator, and last but not least, founding member and Board Member of Golden State German Shepherd Rescue. Michelle's eye for detail and ability to plow through the most challenging of government red tape and paperwork, was how we came to get our 501 c 3 non-profit status, which she single-handily coordinated. Her organizational skills are second to none and this has served the group very well whether it was fundraising, designing promotional materials, or pulling the Board of Directors together for meetings. Michelle exemplifies the type of volunteer who is the cornerstone of making rescue work and we are lucky to have her on our team.
Michelle says "I feel very fortunate to have the love and devotion of two wonderful rescued dogs. Volunteering is my way to give back on their behalf and to help other deserving GSDs find their forever homes."
