Male 6 years
Junior is a male german shepherd dog, 86 lbs. His birthday is February 1 and is now 6 years old. But he still has a lot of playful puppy personality left in him. He has been my dog since he was 8 weeks old. He is neutered.
He is a great guard dog letting me know when anyone is walking in front of our house or walking up the driveway. He is friendly and is excited to see me when I come home each night. He is outside during the day while I am at work and sleeps indoors at night. On days that the temperatures hit 101 or above, I leave him in the house with the AC on. He can hold it until I get home (about 12 hours). I leave at 7:30 a.m. and return about 6 or 6:30 p.m. He is trained to potty outside and to let me know when he needs to go out. He does not chew on furniture. At the dog park, he gets along with all of the dogs and if there is a fight he has never been involved or even near the occurrence. I like to say "he is a lover, not a fighter." Walking on a leash, when he sees a dog he wants to go play and gets very excited. I have to reel him in and remind him this is not the park.
I do not have young children nor do any of my friends, so he has not been exposed to young children. Junior needs someone who can spend more time with him, to play with him, take him on daily or nightly walks. My husband and I adopted Junior. Then a year later my husband passed away. My husband worked from home and could give Junior the time and attention that a man's best friend deserves.
Since my husband's passing, because my work schedule leaves me little time during the week to spend with Junior, Junior has not gotten the time he deserves. I live in Concord, but work in Napa so by the time I get home I barely have time to cook, eat dinner, do a little housework and then it's off to bed. As much as it hurts me to let him go, I am rehoming Junior for his best interest. I feel so bad each night not being able to give to him what he sorely desires and deserves. I know there is someone out there that needs a best friend and has the time to dedicate to this new relationship.
