Meet Ren! This handsome senior boy was surrendered to the shelter because the "family" was moving. This boy is so sweet and such a solid dog, that he would adapt well to any situation. He gets along with people, dogs and we even passed a cat at the shelter and he paid no mind to it. He is a pushy older male, so experience with dog intros is helpful. He's in no way agressive, just tries to be dominant (this could change once we get him neutered). He is housetrained and is so easy to walk on leash. He does well with kids and would also be a good therapy dog. Ren was able to sense that a neighbor was sad, and walked right up to him and put his head in his lap. He stayed there while the neighbor held his head and cried. *the neighbor had just put his senior husky down and Ren sensed his sadness and pulled over to him**
He is excelling in his foster home and has done great on walks around the neighborhood and downtown area. He does still need to be neutered, so he won't be available until his is recovered from the surgery.
We have learned that Ren is in stage 3 or 4 heartworm, which has led to his weight loss as well as right sided heart failure. Ren is currently being treated but we honestly don't know where his treatment will take him. He is living a great life with his current foster and we don't know if he will stay with his foster or be adotped. If you are interested in him, please let us know, and we can discuss options. He is a bit pushy with other dogs and doesn't seem to know what play is. His handler will need to anticipate his moves around other dogs. He did do well around the dogs in the park and didn't pay them any mind, unless they rushed him.
Stay tuned! Ren does have some interested parties lined up for him once he becomes adoptable, so we will see where those go before moving forward with any other applications.
Adoption Fee includes spay or neuter, vaccinations including rabies, worming, microchip, and a collar.
